v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 8/25/2004 12:14:06 PM You have to set up Hyperterminal as using the COM port the modem is on, not the modem name - see www.modemsite.com/56k/x2-hyperterm.asp Aloha! Richard. |
motherx3 Tl Posts: 10 USA | Posted - 8/25/2004 3:12:02 PM They finally came out and replaced my modem today with a conexant modem. The connections speeds shot straight back to where they are on my old computer plus. It was a cheap modem they installed. That was the problem. Thanks again for all your help. I will go to the site and check on the hyperterminal information. Thanks again. |

FickleModemUser Tl Posts: 1 USA | Posted - 9/18/2004 5:48:54 AM I went through the modem Nightmares!!! Original modem was a GTW V.92 made by Broadcom for Gateway. Dell also used this same unit!!!. But you and I cant seem to buy one anyplace! I found out... dont worry about what the connect speed number is...Most of time its bogus! What I did was buy a USR 1056 That has its own controller. About $60 at WallyWorld. Connections as low as 28000 seem lighting fast compared to any other modem That I tried..I now have 5 new modems that i stringed and did all sorts of stuff to but the USR is by far the BEST!!! Best number I ever got was 40000 and I thought I was on cable! Junk the software modem and get a USR you will be happy!! Stuck with Dial Up Forever!!!! Happy now USR ROCKS |
